Services

The San Simon Fire District provides emergency medical services, fire suppression and vehicle extrication services.

On the medical side, we provide first response Emergency Medical Services with personnel certified from the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) EMT and Paramedic levels.  Ambulance transportation is provided by Healthcare Innovations, Inc., from their Wilcox station.

On the fire/rescue side, our volunteers are trained in structural and vehicle firefighting tactics and methods.  Our members are also trained in wildland firefighting which meets NWCG standards.  As far as vehicle extrication training goes, Fred Dimas from Extrication Concepts comes out annually to provide a day of formal training.  We also train with our extrication tools throughout the year.

Another important service we provide is public education and prevention.  The fire district is partnered with the San Simon Unified School District #18.  It is a K-12 school which has around 100 students enrolled.  We believe that partnering with our school will set an example of safety with our students.

In addition to fire prevention week, we participate in career day and the bus evacuation drill, which is a half day event.  The fire district also brings Santa Claus to the station as part of the school's Christmas program.  The firefighters play the role of elves in handing out Christmas goodie bags to each student who visits with Santa.

At the end of the school year, we provide a water day.  The school sets up a ball on a cable and the students get to try and push the ball over the other team's head, utilizing a fire hose.  We provide protective equipment for the participants so everyone is safe.

During home games, the fire district provides a medical stand-by.
